Construction at the Milford Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) continues to advance, with several major project milestones completed in recent months.
The foundation for the new tertiary treatment building is now complete, and the chemical storage tanks have been cast in place. Crews are preparing for the next phase of work, which includes erection of the building’s structural steel framework.
R.H. White Construction has also completed the concrete construction of the new sludge holding tanks. Before the tanks are placed into service, they will undergo watertightness testing and receive a specialized interior protective coating. This coating is designed to help prevent leakage while protecting the concrete from the demanding chemical and environmental conditions common in wastewater treatment operations.
In the coming weeks, construction activities will focus on installing the remaining underground yard piping, including large-diameter process piping that will connect the new tertiary treatment building to the ultraviolet (UV) disinfection facility.
